Transfiguration: First Year

Jaci looked through the paper carefully. She took out a pen and wrote a B on it. She hands the paper back to Derrek.

"Good Derrek, but I said a min. of 6 sentences."

" I was slept in later than usual sorry mam."

Jaci lets out a sigh, then she wrote down 'tardy' in her attendence by Micah's name.

"I'll let you off with a warning now. Next time it's a detention. Now if you're late because of another class, make sure you have a note from that teacher."

"yes mam."

Jaci puts her planner away into her desk and got up from her seat. She stood at one side of the board where it said Transfigurating Objects on the top, and a few drawn and written examples on the side.

"Now can some of you tell me one of the main things you need to have in order to transfigure something?"

Jaci looked around the room for someone to respond.

"another animal."

"Uh.... yeah some sort of object, animal, being..... that's something. But I'm looking for something a little more.... detail, depth."

"A complete thought of the object you want to have transfigured?"

Derrek wasn't too sure about that answer for he left it as a question.

"Yes that....I'm going for focus on that, but good Derrek."

Jaci wrote the word 'focus' on the board.

"Two more things now. When you are focused, you need to be in...."

Jaci lets everyone take more guesses before she gave out the answer

"Maybe a potion or another spell in case the transfiguration goes wrong."

Derrek was stumpped and tried to think of the most obvious things.

"No. Not what I'm going for. You need to be in control."

Jaci drew an arrow from 'focus' then wrote the word 'control' underneath it.

"There is one more thing. This is basically the key element that people should have."

"The outside effetcs like the lining of the stars and the type of moon that is out."

Derrek was positive that this had to be the answer. As Professor was writing this on the board, he wrote everything on a piece of parchment.

"That's good Derrek, but I'm going for something else."

When no one answered, Jaci wrote out the word on the board.

"Creativity. You need to be creative, focused, and in control for you to have a successfull transfiguration."

Jaci gave a little bit of time for everyone to write this down in their notes.

Derrek wrote down the last piece of a sucessful tranfiguration.

Jaci looked up at the clock, where there was only a min left of class before the bell rang.

"Ok everyone. Nice job today. Now your assignment for tonight is to make a list of an object in regular, that can be trasfigured into another form. For instanse something as simple as a sqare box transfigured into a rectangle box. That's just a simple example tho. Be creative! Give me 10 examples when you hand it in tomorrow."

The bell rings as Jaci went back behind her desk.

"You are all dismissed now. If you still have questions, please see me before you leave. See you all tomorrow."

Derrek walks through the door, "Hey Professor."

Jaci was getting ready for class at the tim. She took a glance over her should and saw Derrek walk in. Then she looked up at the clock before going through her papers agin.

"Hello Derrek."

Jaci puts the last of her work away and cleared most of her desk.

"Uh yes. I'll take it now."

Other students were walking in now by that time, but the bell hasn't rang yet.

"Ok then. Here it is. This is all I could get." He handed her the essay.

Ball into flat spot

Penceil into pen

Apple to orange

Dollar into parchement

Chalk into flower

screw to nail

cd to mini frisby

Jaci took Derrek's paper and told everyone else to hand their's in too. Jaci got up from her desk as the bell rang and the students took their seats.

"I can easily say everyone turned their work in today. Now what I want you all to take out your notes and study them during this class time. We are going to have a short quiz tom. I will grade your papers and hand them back before you leave. So no talking at all. You may start now."

Jaci went back to her desk, took attendence, the graded papers.

Derrek got out his notes and began to study everything he had.

Jaci graded through the papers and recorded them in the grade book. When she was done, Jaci got up with the stack of papers and puts them on everyone's desk. She placed Derrek's sheet down where it said 'C' and a note by it saying 'I asked for 10 examples. Try to be a little bit more creative next time. Good effort tho.'

Derrek took the paper and put it in his bag and got back to his studies.
